Museo Nacional De Arte (MUNAL)


The exhibition addresses the modern view of national art and its role in the dissemination of revolutionary and avant-garde ideas, as well as the importance of artists as catalysts of social unity and feelings of identity.

The curatorial script is the result of an exhaustive review of the museum's collection paying tribute to donations by artists, artists' families, collectors, and gallerists who have nurtured the artistic heritage of the people of Mexico and held by National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL).

The exhibition is made up of five nuclei, in chronological and thematic order.

I. Awakening of modernity

II. Art and revolution

III. Avant-garde and national reconstruction

IV. The reinvention of two genres: the portrait and still life

V. Milestones in the Mexican School of Painting

The permanent exhibition allows the public to admire works by Saturnino Herrán, Germán Gedovuis, Félix Parra, Ignacio Rosas, Dr. Atl, Francisco Goitia, José Guadalupe Posada, Leopoldo Méndez, Rosario Cabrera, Lola Cueto, Adolfo Best Maugard, Manuel Maples Arce, Tina Modotti, Abraham Ángel, María Izquierdo, Rufino Tamayo, José Clemente Orozco, Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueiros, among others.
