Including the works of 30 artist, the thematic axis includes the most emblematic colors of Mexico: Achiote Red, Mayan Blue and Mexican Pink.
The exhibition was curated by Helue Nocedal and seeks to highlight most recognized colors in the history of Mexican art. Mayan blue was extracted by the Maya people from a plant which, when mixed with clay, gave them the turquoise color necessary for their mural painting.
Achiote red was of great importance to the Mexica people as a facial and body paint during religious rituals. Mexican pink was used by the designer, painter and draftsman Ramón Valdiosera in 1949 when he presented it on a catwalk in New York City and it is included in the Pantone catalog.
