Diego Rivera. Nueva vida a un mural destruido 1933/1934

Museo del Palacio de Bellas Artes

The exhibition surrounds the reconstruction, from a meticulous selection of sketches, photographs and documents, of the 1933 mural destroyed in New York. A few months later Rivera was commissioned to recreate the work at the Palace of Fine Arts, under the title El hombre controlador del universo (1934).

The exhibition brings together thirty-three pieces, including works by Diego Rivera made after his visit to Moscow in 1927, for the tenth anniversary of the Bolshevik Revolution. The first sketches of the mural, Man at the Crossroads; photographs by Tina Modotti and Lucienne Bloch, as well as film, sound and newspaper documents, which, for the first time, are brought together in the same exhibition in the museum's galleries.
